Couples generally seek therapy because they are experiencing problems communicating with one another. Over time, they begin to form patterns of interaction that many times will cause problems in the relationship to worsen. As a result, the couple may continue to feel that they have become more distant with one another.
At Positive Outcomes we work with couples to develop relational skills that will allow them to work through past hurt and to learn new ways of communicating their feelings and needs with one another. Through this process couples will develop empathy, compassion, and understanding for one another. They will learn to listen to each other and respect each others’ needs and feelings. They will gain a better understanding of themselves as a person and of their partner. While this process will challenge each person at times and may be difficult, it will bring about healing and rejuvenate their relationship.
